Table Projection Surface

Monday, August 11th, 2008

The table we are using consists of a giant sheet of glass which is sandblasted on one side. Although we can project on to this, with the blinds up and it being mid-summer the amount of the light in the room does make the projection quite faint. To improve this we experimented with spray painting a piece of similar glass with white paint on one side. This greatly improved the visibility of the projected image and so we decided to do the same to our glass table. After a day of me and Ritchie getting high on paint fumes we now have a much better projection surface for our table.

Boardroom Games Table – Installation

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

The small meeting room used to look like this >>>

The future plan is for the glass table to become a games table where the visuals are projected from above and the controls are capacitance sensors ( a slider a 3 buttons) hidden under the table. See below for a visualisation.

So far the games table is progressing like this >>>

We milled out the copper buttons with the milling machine. Then we sticky taped the buttons and slider sensor to the under side of the table.

Using the game pong we tested to see if it worked. Check out the results in the video.
